Residents of another country junkyard
These cars were all cast aside. When they were new, their gleaming chrome and bright whitewalls brought out the neighbors for a look, their kids for a ride around the block. Each one of these made someones’s dad king for a day. Now gathered together on a lonely patch of grassland they wait. Likely none will ever again honk at girls or peel that one tire. They wait, in silence slowly returning to the earth. That is until I see some chrome or a tailfin out of the corner of my eye, and turn the car around because I can’t help it. To a certain kind of gearhead, This is church, the holy of holies. For an hour once in a blue moon they cease to be mass produced junk that no one wanted, and to the right eye they’re even more beautiful than that day your dad was the king.

NEAT! -and upon closer inspection-
Wow! super neat! I’d never actually seen one.

That looks like a 1960 Chrysler Windsor or 1960 De Soto Adventurer tailfin...

It’s a Chrysler Windsor, but a Canadian one, so probably has some weird little differences.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever wanted a car more.

There’s some neat stuff here that would be awesome with a restomod (or just a straight-up restoration). That weird tailfin thing with the chrome wheel on the trunk (wtf is that) would be something I'd love to modernize and drive.

valiants had trunklids like that too I think the correct automotive slang for this feature is “toilet seat”

It looks pretty cool despite the unfortunate nomenclature.

Yeah, I think they were made fun of at the time, but now that they’re all gone you’d have the only one on your street.

Don’t tempt me. I’ve got a project that requires a 1960 Desoto Adventurer or Chrysler Windsor 2 door.

I think the reason why I like it is because of that nuclear car concept which has this toilet seat thing where the “nuclear reactor” was placed in the concept. It’s very Fallout, except mine wouldn’t be a irradiated hunk of steel frame left over to turn into a damn radio beacon or some other useless shite.
Now that I think about it, with the right colour corrections these photos would look like a place in Fallout.

Laugh all you’d like, I want to build This:
Officially, theirs is a 1960 DeSoto Adventurer, but I believe that a lot of the difference is in trim.
I’d have to find the correct trunk lid and grille and front bumper, but it would be a start. I need a fairly rough one to start with, so I don’t feel as bad making the modifications.

They’re Sam and Max. they’re characters from a series of point-and-click adventure games. the latest ones, made by TellTale Games, feature a 1960 Desoto Adventurer, pictured there without a roof. the earlier ones have a roof, but I like this version.

I’d love to have a truck like that last one.
What part of Saskatchewan was this in?

This is right outside Oxbow, coming In from the west there’s a few old cars up on a hill and if you go to investigate, you’ll find these.
